History
Camp Friendship was founded in 1964 by a group of concerned parents who
wanted their children with mental retardation to experience the outdoors.
Working through Arc of Minnesota, they purchased an 18th century resort
and converted it to a residential camp. Camp Friendship, now operated
by Friendship Ventures, has been expanded and improved in the years since,
it remains a quiet, rustic, lakeside retreat.

setting for an enjoyable, relaxing camp and vacation experience, conference
or retreat. The new 15,000-square-foot Program Center, includes a gymnasium,
an indoor swimming pool, and activity rooms for games, music and exercise.
The Program Center also serves as an emergency storm shelter. The 65-acre
Uncle Fogy Nature Area includes farm animal barns, an accessible pathway
for walking and hayrides, a tree house, challenge courses, and three outdoor
camping and picnic sites. Camp Friendship has · a network of sidewalks
