Extended Family Makes Holiday Donation
Every year members of the extended family of Harlan and Lois Holzerland adopt a different cause to support instead of giving Christmas gifts to each other. This year, they chose Friendship Ventures. They asked for a needs list and purchased dozens of items, from batteries and insect repellent to construction paper, markers, coloring books, Candyland and I Spy games, Nerf balls and Target and Wal-Mart gift cards.
The family chose Friendship Ventures because Beth Wendland, married to the Holzerland’s grandson, works at Camp Friendship assisting an individual with autism. More than 20 family members participated with this holiday gift by donating money, planning the shopping list, checking it twice, buying and then delivering the items.
“The Holzerland family was like Santa and his many elves,” commented Georgann Rumsey, President of Friendship Ventures. “We thank the entire Holzerland family for sharing the spirit of the season by adopting us this holiday season.”
Friendship Ventures is a non-profit agency that creates unique educational, recreational and social opportunities for people of all ages with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. We also offer conference and retreat services and professional team-building programs to the communities we serve. Friendship Ventures operates Camp Friendship near Annandale, MN and Eden Wood Center in Eden Prairie, MN.
