Merger of Camp New Hope and Friendship Ventures
Camp
New Hope and Friendship Ventures hope to complete a merger of the two
organizations by June 1, 2005. The missions of both organizations are very
similar: To provide high quality educational, recreational and social
programs for children and adults with mental retardation and other
disabilities. Our goal is take the best of both programs and make it even
better for people with disabilities and their families.
Established in 1968, Camp New Hope, Inc. serves nearly 300 clients each
year at its year-round center near McGregor, Minnesota. The 80-acre site
overlooks scenic Glacier Lake, has a quarter-mile of lakeshore and is
nestled in the heart of the Savanna State Forest. As a small organization,
it had become increasingly difficult for Camp New Hope to manage all aspects
of operating a special needs camp. By partnering with an established,
well-respected organization, Camp New Hope can benefit from the
consolidation of some of the administrative, staffing and fund raising tasks
and focus more on providing direct care services.
The merger helps Friendship Ventures fulfill its goal of expanding services
in Northern Minnesota. By teaming up with an existing agency, Friendship
Ventures can have an immediate impact on statewide services for people with
disabilities.
Friendship Ventures is a non-profit agency that creates unique educational, recreational and social opportunities for people of all ages with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. We also offer conference and retreat services and professional team-building programs to the communities we serve. Friendship Ventures operates Camp Friendship near Annandale, MN and Eden Wood Center in Eden Prairie, MN.
