Thanks to Donors Cassie Kosson of White Bear Lake donated an 18-foot pontoon boat and 30 horsepower motor to Friendship Ventures, but ended up giving a piece of her heart as well. Cassie bought the pontoon 16 years ago with an inheritance after her mother, Ruth Kasson, died. The boat meant a lot to her and brought her pleasure. When she decided to upgrade her boat, she searched for a place that would get as much pleasure out of it as she had. As a nurse at Gillette Children’s Hospital, she has a special feeling for children with disabilities. She searched and found Friendship Ventures. “Camp Friendship itself is such a heart-warming name,” she noted. “As soon as I saw the camp I knew I had made the right decision. I wanted the boat to go somewhere my Mom would be proud of. I wanted her to live on.” Donating the boat wasn’t all. Cassie herself paid to have the boat delivered to Camp Friendship. Thanks to Cassie’s generosity, many children and adults with disabilities will experience the joy of boating. Thanks to Besco Poured Concrete, Buffalo, for donating concrete and labor for the concrete floor in the Arts & Crafts building, replacing the waterfront ramp and replacing sidewalks outside the dining hall. We’re grateful to Minnesota Valley Electric Trust, Jordan, for their donation to be used to purchase equipment for the Team Quest Challenge Course at Eden Wood. Thanks to H & S Welding, Heating and Air Conditioning, Kimball, for donating 48 hours of labor to add central air to the dining hall and two residence cabins at Camp Friendship. It is through the contributions of companies like these who donate materials and labor that Friendship Ventures can provide $4 million of services at a cost of $3 million each year. Thank you! |
