Camp New Hope Update
The five months since Camp New Hope merged with Friendship Ventures have been a time of both transition and significant progress, including:

Supporters have given more than $70,000 in cash gifts toward a goal of $100,000 to support the Camp New Hope site.

We offered a shortened summer camp season for 32 individuals. Plans are already underway for a longer camp season in 2006. We are committed to following our mission of providing better services for more people with disabilities.

Work and repair projects have been completed or scheduled and include roofing two buildings, installing new furnaces and a water treatment system, repairing the wheelchair tram to the lakefront and repairing the miniature golf course.

Camp New Hope special events are continuing. The Annual Grandy 9 Golf Tournament will be scheduled for next fall. The CNH Wagon Train rode again this year August 5-12. A new group of interested volunteers may take over the event in 2006. Camp Spooky, an annual Halloween event, was not held in 2005, but a new group of volunteers is planning an even bigger and better event in 2006.
Friendship Ventures board and staff along with committed Camp New Hope leaders and volunteers continue to see the great benefits of this merger…the most important outcome is ensuring that previous clients continue to be served and identifying new opportunities at this site.
Friendship Ventures is a non-profit agency that creates unique educational, recreational and social opportunities for people of all ages with mental retardation and other developmental disabilities. We also offer conference and retreat services and professional team-building programs to the communities we serve. Friendship Ventures operates Camp Friendship near Annandale, MN, Eden Wood Center in Eden Prairie, MN and Camp New Hope near McGregor, MN.
