Volunteer Groups Pitch in at Eden Wood Center

There’s a lot to do everywhere to get ready for winter, and the job is very big at Friendship Ventures sites, with dozens of buildings to clean and winterize and hundreds of trees dropping leaves. A number of volunteer groups have spent time helping out with those jobs this year.

  • An AmeriCorps group spent a day in October at Eden Wood Center. In the morning the group participated in a Team Quest program and in the afternoon they raked leaves, cleaned windows, stacked wood, collected and stacked fallen branches and trees from wooded areas.

  • The Order of the Arrow Boy Scout group from Minnetonka and Eden Prairie helped by raking and removing buckthorn. The group also helps with spring maintenance. – last spring a group of 30 to 40 scouts, parents and scout masters put in the dock, pulled buckthorn and spread wood chips on walking paths.

  • A group of 35 students from Hamline University pulled weeds by the beach and the Team Quest challenge course.

  • Twenty boy scouts from Troop 479, Eden Prairie, raked leaves at Eden Wood Center in early November.

Thanks to all the volunteer groups. Your efforts make a real difference to us and we appreciate it.
